Practice Limited to Dental Implantology

Neal Heaher graduated from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2006 and has worked in both a hospital setting and general dental practice since then in the Northeast. He was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons in 2008. He is currently a member of the International Team for Implantology, British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Association of Dental Implantology and the Northeast Private Dentists’ Association all in which he participates as an active member. Neal has undertaken further training to develop a high-level and broad range of postgraduate dental skills.

 

He has trained and has expertise in a wide range of advanced restorative procedures including digital dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and increasingly popular implant treatments to a high standard. Neal really enjoys offering aesthetically-orientated treatments and his multidisciplinary skillset has allowed him to develop a keen interest in comprehensive, rehabilitative dentistry, which he has become very experienced in with particular emphasis on implant treatment for which he receives referral work from many dentists within the region.

 

Having trained formally in dental implants as far back as 2010, his ongoing commitment to learning the most advanced aesthetic and surgical techniques encouraged him to study for a Masters Degree in Dental Implantology, from which he graduated in 2017 with Distinction. His dissertation researching his own patient’s experiences of different dental implant treatments was marked very highly and was recommended for publication. By achieving the highest level of education in dental implantology Neal now spends considerable time doing complex surgery such as sinus augmentations, guided bone regeneration and soft tissue grafting, performing over 150 implant surgeries a year often the cases require an emphasis on aesthetic detail.

 

Maintaining a high-level within private dentistry requires an attitude receptive to almost constant learning. Neal’s passion for implant dentistry is demonstrated by regular attendance at conferences and courses internationally in order to continually improve his level of knowledge, attending conferences, study clubs and private courses. In 2018 Neal has undertaken a block of surgical training at the world-renown Urban Institute for Bone Regeneration in Budapest under mentorship of Istvan Urban, one of the modern pioneers in bone regeneration for dental implantology, and he has attended various other learning institutions in Madrid, Barcelona and nationally. Neal updated his knowledge of periodontal surgical procedures by attending an extensive 6-month hands on course in soft tissue grafting procedures to compliment existing skills allowing him treat a range of challenging clinical cases. In 2021 Neal went back to the Royal College of Surgeons and was awarded the sought-after Membership in Advanced General Dental Surgery; an internationally-acclaimed assessment of a clinician’s top-tier level of skill and knowledge in clinical dentistry.

 

Neal is always committed to improving the quality and range of treatments that he can provide for his patients, and stay at the forefront of the latest techniques. Whatever the dental problem and whatever the solution Neal hopes that his patients will leave smiling.

 

Outside of dentistry Neal enjoys keeping fit, spending time with family and has been a keen guitarist for over 25 years.
